October 2020 Meeting

We’re happy to announce our first Member’s Meeting since March.

Join us at at WD Surveys – 15 Anzac Ave, Redcliffe on Friday 9th October, 2020. Please note the change of venue.

Our guest speaker will be Duane Hart who will be presenting a pictorial history of Redcliffe.

September Meeting Cancelled

Following additional COVID-19 restrictions for the greater Brisbane area (including Moreton Bay Region), History Redcliffe regrets that we must cancel our scheduled September members meeting. The health and safety of our members, visitors and guest speakers is paramount.

Our next newsletter will be out soon so we look forward to keeping in touch with our members in that way. We look forward to resuming usual activities and meetings when it is safe and prudent to do so.

2020 Annual General Meeting

The Management Committee of History Redcliffe (t/a Redcliffe Historical Society Inc.) requests your presence at the Annual General Meeting to be held at WD Surveys – 15 Anzac Ave, Redcliffe on Friday 14th August 2020.

After the AGM, afternoon tea will be served. All financial members are entitled to vote for the nominated committee candidates to be appointed to the 2020/21 History Redcliffe Management Committee.

During the meeting we will be screening “A Holiday House Called Rooftrees”.

February 2020 Meeting

Looking for something to do on Valentine’s Day? Why not take your special someone to our next meeting!!!

Come along to the Redcliffe Library Meeting Room on Friday 14th February at 2pm and hear guest speaker, Jim Higgins, on the topic of The History of Redcliffe Writers Branch of FAWQ.

November meeting

Join us for our next member’s meeting at the Redcliffe Library Meeting Room at 2pm on Friday, 8th November.  Author, Jane Smith, will be speaking about her latest book “Ship of Death” which tells the true story of the ship Emigrant.

Jane Smith is a Toowoomba librarian, author, freelance editor and former physiotherapist who enjoys researching and writing about history – fiction and non-fiction, for children and for adults.

Jane has written a series of five children’s non-fiction books about bushrangers, a biography of Captain Starlight (for adults) and the first eight episodes of the children’s historical fiction series, ‘Tommy Bell, Bushranger Boy’. Three of her children’s books have been short- or long-listed for significant literary awards. Jane’s latest work, Ship of Death: The Tragedy of the Emigrant, combines her fascination for history with her interest in the beautiful Stradbroke Island.
