In mid-September 1824, Lieutenant Henry Miller landed the brig, Amity, on the shores of Redcliffe Peninsula in the Gubbi Gubbi nation and established the First European Settlement in Queensland.
History Redcliffe is currently planning the ways in which we will mark the 200th anniversary of this historic event.

History Redcliffe is proud to be working with the Royal Historical Society of Queensland and Bribie Island Historical Society to present a one day conference on Saturday 7th September 2024 to commemorate the bicentenary of the Moreton Bay penal colony.
Registrations for Wunya Ngulum Welcome Everyone: The Moreton Bay Bicentennial Commemoration are now open on Eventbrite. The cost is $65 and includes lunch and loads of wonderful presentations and loads of inclusions in the conference satchel.

History Redcliffe invites the attendees of Wunya Ngulum Welcome Everyone: The Moreton Bay Bicentennial Commemoration to join us on a guided walk on the new Humpybong Trail. The event is free but bookings are required. Book here.

Come and join us for an enjoyable Afternoon Tea and Talk as part of History Redcliffe’s week-long festival, “Redcliffe Remembers 1824-2024”. Book your ticket here.
Our distinguished local historian, Pat Gee, will be the speaker for the event, providing valuable insights into the life of Redcliffe pioneer, Mary Phoebe Tubbs.
Mary’s is a story with lots of pieces to the puzzle. Like having the picture on the puzzle box and knowing where most of the puzzle pieces fit but there are still a few missing pieces.
